6/15-16 - Nationals: Southern Odyssey
The road trip to Raleigh was more memorable for, well, the road trip, but it was an interesting finale to a dream year for Fordham Prep. The ups: Naclerio takes 9th with 180'6" toss, 4x100m relay races to fastest time of the year, with Idris Payne replacing Dave Bailey. The not-so-ups: dropped stick in 4x200m, 3:36.73 SMR, sub-par weekend for Mike Sangobowale, and rain delays the meet enough to force us to scratch the 4x400m. Meet Results - Team Results
6/8 - New York State Champs - Uniondale, LI

Emenike (11.18), 4x100 (44.0) just miss finals
-Flucus 51.3, Bailey 50.6, Dalton 49.8, Payne 48.5 - a superb race given they weren't pushed and won their heat by a large margin. The fastest of 6 heats had all 8 qualifiers, with the Prep just missing the cut out of the second heat by a heart-wrenching .03 seconds! 3:20.59 has WON many previous State Meets!
Obaro Emenike stumbled in his 100m semi, still ran 11.03--fastest time of any Soph at the meet!

The 2nd Annual Classic Run was another great success! For the second year, a generous gift from alumnus Phil Toomey, class of 1958, made the revival of this grand tradition possible.
The Fordham Prep Classic Run is the same race that was run for many years through the 1950's. The race was held at the start of the Fordham Prep school year, and challenged the new class of Freshmen to circle the Fordham University Quadrangle (Edward's Parade) three times. In this year's version of the event, 50 Freshman, 21% of the class, took the challenge. The distance was approximately 900 meters, as the course was shortened slightly from last year due to a portion of the field being watered.
Congratulations to the 15 plaque winners and all the participants, and thanks to Mr. Toomey, the track team volunteers, Freshmen mentors and to Mr. Brian Carney for pulling off a great event and continuing a new tradition! See the results of the 1st Annual Run

Email Mr. Febles with questions.
The 2000 Cross Country Team was supposed to be in a rebuilding year, but no one expected the rebuilding to be so successful. Captains Idris Payne, Nazir Khan and Mike Forman, as well as Junior Joe Fitzsimons, set the tone with a determined work ethic--often pushing the team over 45 miles per week. The Varsity placed 4th at the Brewster Invitational, 2nd in their race at the Eastern States Champs, and most importanly, won back their coveted Bronx Championship trophy which had been lost to Mt. St. Michael last year--following a ten year win streak. The Sophomore squad was untouchable in the Archdiocese as All-Stars Pablo Romero and Sean Egan combined with John Hunt, Jose Fernandez, Tim Walsh and Peter Palmer to capture the Sectional championship by over 30 points. On the Freshman level, wins were recorded at the Bronx Champs and Fordham Prep Relays, and a 3rd gold was narrowly lost to Regis by only one point at the Sectional Champs. The story of Freshman year was the emergence of Brian McCabe, who went undefeated by any Freshman in New York State, and won the Freshman City Title in the fastest time for any freshman in the City in the last 11 years. Surely, the future looks bright.
